Come Sail Away

After spending an afternoon in Newport Beach, I was inspired to put together some nautical outfits.

I really love the Banana Republic knotted gold rope bracelet and the Sea Bags tote featured in the first look. Sea Bags is a great company that uses recycled sails for their hand-made customizable totes.

Nautical themed outfits are really simple. Just put together some blue and white French sailor stripes (à la 1930s Chanel) and brass or rope accessories. Everything is usually very clean cut and simple – no adornments, ruffles, sparkles, etc.  Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Tommy Hilfiger, Vineyard Vines – great retailers to find maritime clothing.  The above outfits may be a little too “themed”, so below is a more casual look.

Blues, whites, oranges (or true red), and browns are nautical essentials.  I absolutely love my Sperry Topsiders – they are required footwear for any seafarer. They are extremely comfortable so I put them on whenever my feet need a break and I don’t want to wear athletic shoes.

Have fun shopping!

  1. LOVE the tote made from recycled sail material! Only wish we had thought of that last summer when our mainsail ripped… but we had other things on our mind, as I recall, right, Grace?

    1. Hi Sarah,

Here’s the original link for the Urban Outfitters nautical earrings:

      http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&navAction=jump&id=17461369&search=true&isProduct=true&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS&color=070

But it looks like they’re sold out! I found some alternatives though:

They’re not posts like the UO earrings, but I think they’re still cute

      Hope this helps!
