Anthropologie sells adorable elastic hair ties in fun, seasonal colors and patterns for $12 for only 5 hair ties. No thanks! I knew I could easily make these myself at a fraction of the price and only in the colors I want. I picked out pastels for Spring, and plan to make more as the seasons change. Here’s what you’ll need:
You can make about 4 hair ties with 1 yard of elastic. You may want to adjust depending on the thickness of your hair and the width of the elastic.
With each cut piece of elastic, fold it in half, and make a loose knot. Pull the knot towards the cut end to secure. Trim the end by cutting on the bias. To prevent from fraying, I applied Fray Check to the cut edges. And that’s it! Probably the easiest DIY project you can do. I made 16 hair ties in just a few minutes…even while watching TV and snacking.
