Monday Wishlist

1 blouse / 2 bag / 3 scarf / 4 tshirt / 5 hat

It’s Monday again and I’m mourning the loss of the weekend. And these Monday blues call for a little retail therapy.  I’m clearly still on my black and white kick and highest up on my wish list is the Mansur Gavriel bucket bag. It’s been an understated it bag for the last few years, but now that it’s finally available online without a wait list I’m just about ready to take the plunge. Watch this space.

I’m eagerly awaiting Spring. Can you tell?  I got these Madewell d’Orsay flats last week as a birthday gift (thanks, Mom!) but the weather has been too dreadful to wear them out. Hoping for sunnier days ahead.

Madewell Spring ’14 Preview

Madewell Spring '14 PreviewHere’s a sneak peek at Madewell‘s Spring 2014 line. Everything looks fresh and effortless – exactly what I’ve come to expect from Madewell. This is the debut collection for Madewell’s new head of design, Somsack Sikhounmuong, and I’d say he’s got me hooked. Here are my favorite looks:

Monday Wishlist, Resolution Edition

New Years Resolution: get active! | via Dressed in Orange

links: sweatshirt / headband / fitbit / legging / bottle / sneaker

With holiday break wrapping up and everyone heading back to their daily routines, it can be hard to start in on the New Years resolutions that seemed so manageable just a week ago. I know I personally hit the snooze button too many times on Saturday morning and missed my yoga class, so I’m hoping that a couple new pieces of active wear will help shake me out of winter hibernation! I’m looking forward to getting myself a new comfy sweatshirt for walks to the gym, and a colorful headband for keeping my hair fuss-free during Sun Salutations. I’m also planning on getting a new pair of leggings, since I absolutely love my Lululemon Wunder Under Crops which have served me well at the gym, in the Pilates studio, and at yoga class!

Even if I can’t make it to the gym everyday, I am also trying to drink more water and to walk at least 7000 steps a day (increased from 5000, which was my goal last year). I find that drinking from a water bottle helps me visualize if I am on track to stay hydrated, and having my Fitbit on me is a great motivator to keep active, especially when I realize a day at the flea market is 13,000 steps!!!

I’ll be sharing some other resolutions throughout the rest of the week, but I’d love to hear: what made your New Years Resolutions list for 2014? Have you started in already, or are you as slow to kickoff as I am? :) Good luck!

Wanted: Leather Pockets

splurge: J.Crew $158 | save: ASOS $50

Sorry for the short post today! Late night at work + one sick boyfriend leaves little time for blogging.

I wanted to pop by to share these leather and sweater combos, one of my favorite new trends to roll out in stores the past couple weeks. It’s amazing the difference some leather makes on a simple crewneck, which creates a sweater that’s perfectly traditional-with-a-twist and fall appropriate. Here are two of my favorite versions, an understated splurge and a sleek budget option both sure to keep you warm and chic in the cold months ahead.

Which would you choose? (I’m leaning towards the budget version myself– I like the variegated yarn and the chunkier knit!)

A Summer Outfit with a Rosy Outlook

Summer bouquet by Natalie Bowen Designs on sacramentostreet.com, via Dressed in Orange

This summer flower arrangement has really stuck with me the past couple days– I think the pale colors are so unexpected and fresh, especially as we we enter the hottest days of the year. These colors would make a great outfit as well, with soft peach, pink, and creme colors complementing a fresh tan and keeping you cool in the hot sun. Here is how I would wear them– complete with a glass of champagne to celebrate it being Friday, of course! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Dark and Stormy: Swimsuits

black one pieces (on sale!), via Dressed in Orange

suits: 1 / 2 / 3

After what has been an uncharacteristically warm June, we have been troubled the past couple days with rain here in the Bay Area. In honor of the less-than-sunny skies, here are a couple swimsuits I’m loving, which aren’t the traditional neon string bikinis of Summer. Not only would these suits be flattering, but I love that their straps aren’t super thick, so you won’t accidentally get crazy tan lines. The best part is, however that you can get a discount on all of these great suits, plus many other clothing items thanks to some super summer sales and deals happening right now!

  • Madewell: pay $60, and you will get $100 to spend on anything in the store with Refinery29’s deal.
  • J. Crew: get 25% off your purchase with code LOVEJCREW
  • Anthropologie: the Anthro summer tag sale means some items are on sale up to 50% right now. You better believe I scooped up that suit, as soon as it was available on backorder!

P.S. I found out that Shopbop is also having a sale, with 25% off all sale items. You can check out their on-sale swim suit selection here.
